In meetings that ended on Thursday, the G20 working groups dealing with the Framework and Women's Empowerment presented their work plans to the representatives of the member countries and guests. The evaluation of the Brazilian proposals, which set goals for the activities that will take place throughout the year, was considered positive by the representatives. According to Keiti Gomes, coordinator of the Framework Working Group for the Ministry of Finance, this week's meeting presented an initial work proposal, which places inequality as the central axis of the discussions.

She says it's a topic that is very well received, in the sense that countries see it as a central concern. It's an important concern, it's a fair concern, it's a concern that directly impacts people's lives. Keiti says he's talking about income inequality, inequality of opportunities, inequality of access to information, better income standards, better social conditions. So, this speaks directly to people's daily lives, to the daily lives of the population.

The coordinator explains that, in 2024, one of the focuses of the Working Group is to find ways of transforming the concerns of the member countries into objective economic policies. Keiti says that all those reflections, debates and lessons learned are taken back to the countries as well. The idea is to build a menu of public policies based on the experience of the countries and we can create a set of public policies that the countries can look at. She says it's a unique opportunity and Brasil is putting it forward, and this is transforming society.

The next technical meetings of the Framework Working Group will take place in March, June and September of this year. In the balance of the Women's Empowerment Working Group, the topics of the first two days of the meeting were reported, which also focused on Brazilian priorities, such as gender equality, which includes the issue of women's economic autonomy; and the fight against misogyny, which is hatred against women. The next meeting of the Women's Empowerment Working Group will take place on May 8 and 9, also in Brasilia, but in person at the G20 headquarters.
