Perfect ten? That’s for kids from other generations. Now, they are aiming for the perfect 20, or better said, the G20. The junior reporters from the Andar project, an acronym that represents the News Agency of Public School Students from the city of Rio de Janeiro, started their coverage of G20 this Monday (29), during the first official act of the B20 engagement group.
During the event, the students were scheduled to do an exclusive interview with the Vice President of the Republic, Geraldo Alckmin, who greeted the junior press team with enthusiasm.
Vice President Alckmin: It makes all sense to meet with you today at Firjan to talk about the B20 and the G20, and about the largest countries and economies of the world. It has everything to do with you, young students, because President Lula, who presides over the G20, has prioritized combating hunger, promoting development, creating jobs, and also preserving the environment. These are themes that speak to the present and the future. And the future starts today; it goes by the name of Kamilly, of Jhonata… it has everything to do with you.
For many, children and the youth are the future; at the G20 Brasil they are the present. Thirteen year-old Kamilly Paiva talked about the experience.
Kamilly Paiva – Junior reporter: When I joined EMOT News, many doors opened for me. So much so that I now want to study Journalism. It's amazing, you know, to be able to have this experience, to see real journalists, to talk to important people, to be on camera, to be interviewed… Wow, I'd never done that before.
The television newscast in which Kamilly participates is one of the initiatives of the 37 schools that are part of Andar. Founded in 2022, the Agency gathers schools from the carioca capital city. Over its first year and a half, it has already mobilized over 300 students. In addition to covering the B20 opening event, students from Andar will participate in other G20 events hosted in the City of Rio de Janeiro. This is the result of a partnership between the G20 Brasil Communications Coordination and the Municipal Department of Education of Rio de Janeiro.
