G20 throughout Brasil: Ceará hosts meetings on education, economy, and employment sectors
The state of Northeast Brasil is set to host four working group meetings of the G20 between July and October 2024. Among these, the Education Working Group stands out, with the participation of education ministers from various countries around the world.

Between July and October of 2024, Ceará will serve as the host for working group meetings (GTs) of the G20, a forum uniting the world's major economies. As part of Brasil's presidency, the state steps onto the global stage, facilitating three technical meetings centered on employment and economy-related subjects. In October, Ceará will oversee a ministerial meeting in the education sector, an area where the state has demonstrated remarkable achievements and favorable indicators that can be shared with other countries.
In total, four meetings are scheduled to take place at the Ceará Events Center in Fortaleza, the capital of the state, starting in June. Governor Elmano de Freitas of Ceará underscored the importance of these meetings, stating, "Simultaneously, we will organize technical meetings and cultural events aimed at showcasing our state, attracting new investments, and bolstering job creation and income for the people of Ceará. Ceará stands at the forefront of shaping the present and future of our planet”, emphasized Elmano.
Between June 10-12, 2024, the G20 calendar starts in Ceará with the technical meeting of the International Financial Architecture Working Group, a part of the Finance Track, which is organized by the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Brasil. Following this, between July 1-3, 2024, the meeting of the "Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion" working group will convene.
Also in July, from the 23rd to the 26th, the Employment Working Group will take center stage. Among its key priorities is the enhancement and creation of more high-quality jobs in lesser developed countries.
Excellence in public education

Ceará has shown positive strides in the realm of education, with 75% of its state education network comprising full-time schools. The aim is to achieve full coverage of 100% by 2026. Moreover, in 2023, the state spearheaded the participation of graduating high school students from public schools in the National High School Exam (Enem) throughout Brasil. Notably, the participation rate soared to 79.8%, marking a substantial increase over the national average of 46.7%.
The ministerial meeting on this topic is scheduled to take place in the state between October 30-31, 2024, preceded by a technical meeting on the subject, marking the conclusion of the G20 calendar in Ceará. "The selection of Ceará as the venue for this meeting was deliberate. The high quality of public education in our state has positioned us to host experts from the world's leading countries. This presents us with a significant opportunity to spotlight our education system, which has consistently led the nation's key indicators for over a decade”, remarked the governor.
