Geraldo Alckmin highlights Brasil's priorities at the G20 Trade and Investment Working Group

Reducing hunger and poverty; environmental sustainability; and governance reform of multilateral institutions. The priorities of Brasil’s G20 presidency were highlighted by the Vice-President in a welcome video for the first G20 Trade and Investment Working Group technical meeting—held via video conference this Monday (29).

“Our country wants a more prosperous, fairer and greener world. We want to achieve sustainable development from a social, environmental and economic point of view," said Alckmin, who reiterated the importance of seeking a more inclusive, equitable and transparent trade and investment environment. “We need complementary trade and environmental policies, in line with World Trade Organization (WTO) rules, as well as multilateral environmental agreements, thus avoiding disguised protectionist practices,” he added.
