Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty is created with the support of world leaders and international organizations
Learn more about the main initiative of Brasil's G20 presidency, which aims to eradicate world hunger by 2030. According to data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), 733 million people are undernourished in 2024. So far, the Alliance has been joined by 81 countries, 26 international organizations, 9 financial institutions, and 31 philanthropic foundations and non-governmental organizations.

Brasil's president officially launched the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty during the opening ceremony of the G20 Summit at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro on Monday, November 18. For Lula, hunger is unacceptable in a world where Four hundred million tons of food are produced per year. The Alliance already has a website for more information.

Task Force for a Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty

This Task Force was proposed by Brasil's G20 presidency, and will focus on establishing a Global Alliance to raise resources and knowledge for implementation of public policies and social technologies that are proven to be effective in reducing hunger and poverty around the world. Adherence to the Global Alliance will be open not only to G20 members, but to all interested countries.
