T20 Brasil conference debates solutions to global challenges

On July 1, 2 and 3, Rio de Janeiro will host the T20 Brasil Midterm Conference, bringing together experts to assess progress and present proposals to the G20. The event will be broadcast live on the G20 Brasil website.

The city of Rio de Janeiro will host the T20 Brasil Midterm Conference from July 1 to 3. The event brings together T20 Brasil members and the G20 community to review progress made throughout the year, and to present new ideas for collaboration ahead of the G20 Summit in November. 

The aim is to strengthen the participation of think tanks and academic institutions in the group's process. The conference promotes extended dialogues between research institutions and leaders of the Sherpa and Finance tracks. The meeting represents an opportunity to consolidate policy recommendations to be taken to the leaders of the world’s largest international economic cooperation forum.

For the first time, the Midterm Conference will present the T20 Communiqué in advance to the leaders of the G20 Brasil tracks. The document summarizes the work of the task force with objective and concrete proposals. The event is organized by Cebri, Ipea, Funag, Rio de Janeiro City Hall and BNDES.

The T20 is one of the G20's 13 official Engagement Groups, bringing together think tanks and international research centers from member countries and invited guests. Since the end of 2023, the Brazilian Center for International Relations (Centro Brasileiro de Relações Internacionais /CEBRI), the Alexandre de Gusmão Foundation (Fundação Alexandre de Gusmão /FUNAG) and the Institute for Applied Economic Research (Instituto de Pesquisa Econômica Aplicada /Ipea) have made up the T20 Brasil Organizing Committee, taking on the responsibility of contributing to the production of knowledge and organizing policy recommendations during Brasil's presidency of the G20.
