Overcoming inequalities on the agenda on the last day of the French president's trip to Brasil
On the last day of French President Emmanuel Macron's official visit to Brasil, President Lula stated that the two countries are determined to work together to promote a shared vision of the world. In the current international scenario of instability, the dialogue between the two countries represents an alliance in favor of overcoming structural inequalities and a more sustainable planet, priority themes for the Brazilian presidency of the G20. Taxing billionaires is one of the alternatives advocated to increase resources to overcome inequalities.

"Among the traditional powers, none is closer to Brasil than France. Among the emerging powers, you will tell me if any is closer to France than Brasil," said President Lula when he received President Emmanuel Macron in Brasilia.
As for the French president, he reiterated that "confidence in our economies and democracy unites us. We have all the reasons to believe that this will continue". After signing the agreements, the French president affirmed that the two countries are immersed in common values.

Important topics for the international debate, in the view of the Brazilian G20 presidency, such as financing the ecological and energy transition, bioeconomy, agriculture, public administration, digital issues, artificial intelligence, human rights and gender equality were part of the bilateral agenda.
President Lula emphasized that the fight against inequality is the driving force behind Brasil's presidency of the G20 and mentioned the launch of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty. In the year that the Bretton Woods Organizations are celebrating their 80th anniversary, the two leaders agreed that the G20 should discuss the need to reform global governance and strengthen multilateralism. Including a debate on taxing the super-rich, in line with the proposal for fair and progressive international taxation that Brasil defends at the G20.
For the Brazilian president, there are countless possibilities for future partnerships between the two countries.
